About this place
One visitor described the pancakes as so fluffy that a spoon sank into them with ease, and praised their melt-in-the-mouth texture. At Monkey Pod Abiko, there is plenty to choose from whether you want something sweet after a meal or are coming specifically for pancakes. Visitors have found them restrained in sweetness and well balanced with whipped cream; despite their generous appearance, they are easy to finish. The menu includes the “Three-Star Pancake” as well as Monkey Pod Malasada, described as a Hawaiian doughnut, making for a tempting sweet finish to a café visit.
For a savoury meal, omurice is one dish that visitors have singled out. One review praised the combination of soft, creamy egg and demi-glace sauce, noting that the rice was seasoned just enough to keep the dish enjoyable to the last bite. Another visitor said they return to the Terimayo Omurice, too. The lunch loco moco can be customised with white rice, 16-grain rice or butter rice, and a choice of seven sauces, including tomato, salted, salsa and demi-glace. A larger serving of white rice is free; a larger serving of 16-grain rice or butter rice costs extra. There is room to tailor the dish to your preferred flavours, even when ordering the same menu item.
The chicken steak lunch comes with a choice of three sauces: salt and lemon, teriyaki or grated daikon with ponzu. For the mochiko chicken lunch, the four options are salt, pepper and lemon; spring onion mayonnaise; grated daikon with ponzu; and chilli sauce. Choosing the main dish first and then its flavour is a welcome touch. A children's menu and baby chairs are also available, making the restaurant an option for a family meal.
